Origins & Roots QI.X emerged onto the independent South Korean music landscape under Sweet Potato Productions, crafted explicitly to break conventional mold boundaries. The name itself combines 'QI' for Queer Idols with 'X' signifying infinity and unconstrained gender spectrums. Formed by visionary artists dedicated to authentic representation, the collective set out to challenge the notoriously homogenous mainstream idol structure.
Training & Formation The members—Prin, jiGOOK, and Sen, alongside former members Maek and Youra—navigated rigorous artistic paths marked by personal resilience. Many had previously faced systemic exclusion or personal struggles within traditional K-pop trainee systems due to their authentic gender identities and expressions. Rather than conforming, they united under an independent banner to forge a safe, expressive harbor.
Breakthrough Ascension On March 22, 2023, QI.X officially debuted with their pioneering single 'Lights Up', instantly capturing the attention of global progressive music enthusiasts. Their unique blend of sharp choreography, raw vocals, and unapologetic self-expression distinguished them from conventional acts. They cultivated a fiercely loyal fan base known as QTZ, united by periwinkle purple colors.
Landmark Accolades Operating independently without the backing of major conglomerates, QI.X carved out a historic niche in Asian pop culture.
