The group's name, cleverly pronounced as 'cutie', is a brilliant portmanteau of the Japanese number nine ('kyuu') and 'tie', symbolizing the unbreakable bond and harmonious connection forged between the nine distinct members on their journey to stardom.
Auditions & Formative Trials Each member arrived at 9-tie through rigorous voice acting auditions and extensive backgrounds in Japanese entertainment, ranging from theater and classical dance to competitive classical performance. Selected to portray the central aspirational heroines of the anime, the ensemble underwent intensive vocal training to blend their distinct vocal textures into a singular, cohesive auditory identity that could breathe life into both character arcs and chart-topping anime singles.
The Breakthrough Breakout On October 27, 2021, 9-tie officially captured the global anime and J-Pop consciousness with their landmark debut singles, including 'Glorious Days', 'Only one yell', and 'SELECTION HEROINE'.
