Origins & Roots Born on July 18, 2003, in Seoul, South Korea, Baek Sunho grew up with a deep-seated fascination for the cinematic arts. Early on, he nurtured a rare artistic sensibility, finding inspiration in classic and arthouse films rather than standard childhood entertainment. His passion for performance was kindled during his elementary school years when he actively participated in children's musicals like Cloud Bread, laying the fundamental groundwork for a lifelong career in the spotlight.
Trainee Years & Pivot Displaying remarkable visuals and towering height, Sunho caught the attention of major entertainment powerhouses, eventually training under elite agencies including BigHit Entertainment and C-JeS Studios. As a member of the pre-debut trainee group M.I.C (now WHIB) between 2021 and 2022, he honed his stage presence and vocal control. However, driven by health considerations and an unyielding desire to explore profound human emotions through acting, he officially pivoted away from the idol trajectory in late 2022 to dedicate himself entirely to dramatic arts.
Breakthrough & Ascension Sunho made his official on-screen acting debut in 2023 with a guest role in the K-drama Between Him and Her. His striking presence, marked by a unique blend of soft elegance and sharp intensity, quickly drew critical attention. Roles in projects such as Dong Jae, the Good or the Bastard, Million Dollar Baby, and Kick Kick Kick Kick—where he notably improvised a significant portion of his dialogue—showcased his naturalistic acting instincts and ability to inhabit complex emotional landscapes.
Global Acclaim & Partnerships As his acting repertoire expanded, so did his commercial footprint. Sunho stepped into high-profile advertising realms, fronting campaigns such as POLHAM’s 25SS collection and various lifestyle brands. His ability to effortlessly bridge high fashion aesthetics with raw cinematic depth earned him recognition across global cultural archives, positioning him as one of the most promising young talents of his generation.
Artistic Philosophy & Legacy Rooted in an eclectic appreciation for experimental music, analog photography, and human-centric cinema akin to the works of Hirokazu Kore-eda, Sunho approaches his craft with uncompromising integrity. Rejecting rigid formulas in favor of emotional truth, he aspires to portray flawed, intense characters that resonate deeply with audiences, ensuring a lasting and profound impact on international cinema.
