Growing up alongside an older brother, she displayed an early appreciation for the arts and performance, harboring dreams that would eventually lead her far beyond her hometown. Her early life in Daegu nurtured a grounded personality, though she rarely displayed her regional satoori dialect except when overcome with excitement or speaking with her mother.
Training & Formative Trials Before her ultimate debut, Bona underwent an extraordinarily rigorous training period spanning seven full years. She spent six foundational years as a trainee under Cube Entertainment before transitioning to Starship Entertainment for a final year of intense preparation. This grueling decade-fraction of development honed her dancing, rapping, and vocal abilities, cementing her resilience and discipline in the highly competitive Korean entertainment ecosystem.
Breakthrough & Global Ascension In February 2016, Bona officially debuted as a member of Starship and Yuehua Entertainment's powerhouse girl group, WJSN (Cosmic Girls). Quickly capturing attention for her striking visuals and versatile performance skills, she anchored the group's choreography and stage presence. Simultaneously, she expanded her footprint into acting, securing roles in dramas such as 'The Best Hit' and 'Girl’s Generation 1979' before achieving widespread critical acclaim for her stellar performance in 'Twenty-Five Twenty-One.'
Landmark Honors & Cultural Impact Bona’s transition from idol performer to respected dramatic actress earned her prestigious nominations and awards, including recognition at the KBS Drama Awards and Baeksang Arts Awards. Within WJSN, she helped steer iconic releases that dominated music charts and variety broadcasts alike, bridging the gap between idol culture and mainstream prestige television.
