Origins & Roots Clerks (클럭스) emerged in the vibrant cultural landscape of South Korea as a uniquely refreshing all-female band. Formed in May 2007 under the collaborative efforts of Jusin Productions and Sapiens7 Entertainment, the group drew its name and existential inspiration from Kevin Smith’s cult classic film Clerks, combined with a nod to everyday salesclerks.
Training & Early Trials Comprising three remarkably talented musicians—Lira on drums, Yedda on bass, and Ssaem on guitar—the members honed their craft through rigorous academic training at Hanyang Women’s University's prestigious Department of Applied Music. Before their official commercial releases, they immersed themselves in Seoul's underground live music ecosystem, building formidable chops.
Breakthrough Ascension On July 28, 2007, Clerks made their definitive live club debut at Club TA in the artistic epicenter of Hongdae, Seoul. Their energetic stage presence quickly captured the attention of indie rock aficionados. This momentum culminated on February 19, 2009, with the release of their debut single album, May I Help You?, which showcased their distinct instrumental chemistry.
