Origins & Roots Formed under Richworld Entertainment, HIGH SCHOOL (여고생) emerged onto the South Korean music scene with an intriguing concept that immediately captivated curious listeners. Representing the core pillars of 'Pure, Passion, Love,' the trio originally set out to redefine conventional idol imagery by maintaining an aura of mystery, notably utilizing masks during their early rollout to focus purely on auditory artistry.
Training & Trials The group's journey to debut was fraught with anticipation and delays. Originally slated for a 2018 launch, internal member adjustments and rigorous training schedules pushed their official debut to April 30, 2019. Each member underwent extensive preparation, honing skills in vocal delivery, self-produced mixtapes, and dynamic stage performance under tight label supervision.
The Breakthrough On April 30, 2019, HIGH SCHOOL officially stepped into the spotlight with their unique musical color. Tracks like 'Baby You’re Mine' showcased their harmonious blend and emotional depth. Despite initial industry hurdles and the mysterious persona they adopted, the group steadily built a dedicated international fanbase known as High Class.
Landmark Honors As independent-minded artists, the members carved their own paths through creative self-expression. Members like Haebin, Soeun, and Yebin released individual mixtapes—such as 'Higher 1.0', 'Respect', and 'Would you be my love?'—demonstrating profound growth as songwriters and producers who transcended standard idol boundaries.
Cultural Legacy Although prolonged inactivity and member graduation—such as leader Haebin transitioning to solo pursuits in late 2020—have shifted the group's trajectory, HIGH SCHOOL remains a fascinating footnote in indie K-pop history. Their commitment to personal artistry, mixtape production, and enigmatic concepts leaves an enduring impression on underground idol culture.
