Origins & Roots Born on October 30, 2000, in Hanam, South Korea, Choi Junyoung—globally recognized by his stage moniker KHAN—grew up under unique familial circumstances, being lovingly raised by his grandparents. These formative early years instilled in him a quiet resilience, deep independence, and an acute awareness of the world around him. Finding solace and expression in rhythmic poetry, he gravitated toward hip-hop during his adolescence, viewing the genre as an unfiltered channel for his personal narrative.
Training & Formative Trials Long before reaching commercial prominence, KHAN immersed himself completely in the unrelenting crucible of South Korea's hyper-competitive underground hip-hop scene. He attended Misago High School while simultaneously honing his flow, lyricism, and stage presence. Driven by an insatiable hunger to prove his mettle, he threw himself into multiple high-stakes television survival competitions, including Show Me The Money 8, 9, and 11, alongside Drop the Bit, treating every elimination or setback not as a defeat, but as essential fuel for his artistic evolution.
Breakthrough & Ascension The defining turning point of his burgeoning career arrived on May 6, 2020, when he officially debuted under 446 Block with the hard-hitting single 'No Lie'. His distinctively gritty delivery, sharp cadence, and charismatic aura immediately captured the attention of hip-hop purists. His momentum exploded further when he joined the elite crew Naughty 4 Life (NFL) and later made a triumphant splash on the groundbreaking survival series RAP:PUBLIC, where his commanding leadership and technical mastery propelled Block 2 to overall victory.
Landmark Honors & Partnerships Cementing his status as a heavyweight in the Korean music industry, KHAN signed an exclusive contract with YNG & RICH Records in 2023, aligning himself with some of the scene's most influential hitmakers. His victory on RAP:PUBLIC stands as a towering milestone in his discography, validating years of grueling perseverance. Beyond competitive circuits, his dynamic musicality and streetwise aesthetic have earned him widespread critical acclaim and close artistic alliances with peers like rapper Roh Yunha.
Artistic Philosophy & Legacy KHAN’s artistic philosophy is anchored in authenticity, uncompromised self-expression, and relentless discipline. Whether he is dropping blistering bars in a packed studio or unwinding with a controller playing his favorite FIFA video game series, he remains deeply grounded in his roots. As he continues to expand his sonic boundaries under YNG & RICH Records, KHAN is rapidly building an enduring legacy as a defining voice of his generation's hip-hop vanguard.
