Origins & Roots Born on September 30, 2003, in South Korea, Kim Hangyeom spent a formative part of his childhood residing in Irvine, California. This early exposure to international environments fostered a distinct perspective that would later bleed into his musical sensibilities, blending Western alternative sensibilities with the emotional depth of Korean balladry and rock.

Training & Early Trials Driven by an innate passion for music, Hangyeom immersed himself in formal training, attending Lila Arts High School where he majored in Video and Music Contents before advancing to the prestigious Seoul Institute of the Arts under the Practical Music department. Demonstrating exceptional confidence and artistry, he famously bypassed the CSAT, entirely focused on his path as a professional musician.

Breakthrough & Ascension His raw talent earned early recognition when he captured the Grand Prize at the 2019 contest 'The Stage Calls You.' He further expanded his public footprint through high-profile appearances on survival shows like 'CAP-TEEN' and 'Superband 2.' These platforms paved the way for his official solo debut on April 12, 2022, with 'Flame,' an impassioned OST for the hit drama 'Military Prosecutor Doberman.'

Milestones & Band Era Hangyeom's versatility was showcased as the youngest member (maknae), vocalist, and guitarist of the rock band The Whales, formed through Superband 2. Though his tenure with the band was brief before departing due to creative differences, his contribution to their lyricism and dynamic sound remains an indelible chapter of his artistic evolution.

Legacy & Philosophy Grounded in an INFP creative ethos, Hangyeom approaches music as an intimate canvas of personal reflection and uncompromising authenticity. Whether wielding his cherished Fender Jazzmaster or crafting evocative melodies, he continues to carve out a singular niche as an introspective singer-songwriter in the modern Asian music landscape.
