Origins & Roots Midori Sour (미도리 사워) emerged as a distinctive South Korean rock duo founded on deep childhood bonds and a shared adoration for alternative rock icons like Green Day. Taking their moniker from the refreshing cocktail that offered comfort during challenging periods, founders Seik Kim and Taeho Im channeled their artistic frustrations and creative passions into a unified sonic vision that defied mainstream K-pop formulas.
Formative Years & Debut Having shared a friendship dating back to their elementary school days—where they both participated in school musical ensembles playing violin and piano—the duo reunited in 2020 to lay the groundwork for their musical project. They officially debuted on February 24, 2021, with their evocative digital single "Realisation," establishing an authentic indie rock presence built on raw guitar riffs and emotional resonance.
Breakthrough & Ascendance Despite line-up shifts during their early developmental phase, including the departure of former members in 2022, Midori Sour steadily cultivated a dedicated following through releases like their EP "Waiting...". Their ability to merge energetic punk-pop aesthetics with deeply personal lyricism struck a chord with underground music enthusiasts across South Korea and international platforms.
Landmarks & Milestones The duo expanded their creative footprint through side projects, academic involvements at Konkuk University, and contributions to various indie bands like Spiral and Sorrow Intensity. Their digital footprint grew organically across Spotify, Bandcamp, and YouTube, positioning them as a vital voice in modern Korean independent guitar music.
Artistic Legacy & Future Entering a temporary hiatus due to Seik Kim's mandatory military service starting in June 2023, Midori Sour remains poised for an anticipated reunion in late 2024. Their enduring philosophy—that it is never too late to pursue one's artistic dreams—cements their legacy as resilient torchbearers of contemporary Asian indie rock.
