Origins & Roots The South Korean indie and R&B trio O.A.Be emerged onto the musical landscape with a distinct aesthetic inspired by tranquil landscapes and urban introspection. Formed by three remarkably talented artists—Sooyeon, Yuri, and Sojung—the group derives its evocative name from the concept of an 'Oasis Bay,' symbolizing a refreshing haven for listeners navigating the complexities of modern life.
Training & Formation Before officially uniting as O.A.Be, each member cultivated their artistry through diverse international backgrounds and rigorous musical exploration. Sooyeon studied at Nevada State University, incorporating global indie sensibilities into her vocal delivery, while Yuri honed her mastery in composition and production. Sojung brought academic depth from Ewha Womans University and the University of California, anchoring the group's harmonic foundation.
The Breakthrough On August 10, 2024, O.A.Be captured the attention of contemporary music enthusiasts with their debut EP, My Paradise. The release served as an immediate masterclass in atmospheric arrangement, blending Sooyeon's emotive lead vocals with Yuri's intricate keyboard soundscapes and Sojung's lush backing harmonies, establishing them as a vital new voice in the K-indie scene.
Global Ascension Although operating as an independent ensemble, the trio has steadily expanded their digital footprint through engaging social media interactions and specialized releases. Yuri's extensive production portfolio—collaborating with artists like NaRN and Hailey Jung—alongside Sooyeon's solo ventures, has amplified the group's prestige across underground and mainstream music circles alike.
Artistic Legacy O.A.Be’s enduring philosophy centers on emotional authenticity and sonic comfort. By refusing to conform strictly to commercial formulas, they carve out an intimate space where storytelling and melodic elegance reign supreme, securing their place as a cherished hidden gem in modern Korean music.
