7 Members
Origins & Roots Formed under IN MEDIA A&D (later rebranded as INMEDIA+), PLATINUM emerged as a dynamic seven-member boy group comprising Jess, Hajin, Woonsub, Haegie, Chabin, Ra.L, and Sunmin. Bound by a shared dream of musical expression, the members endured three rigorous years of intense trainee incubation, carving out their artistic identities long before touching a recording studio microphone.
Training & Formation The grueling pre-debut era was defined by synchronized dance rehearsals, vocal coaching sessions, and the cementing of deep interpersonal chemistry. Operating away from the hyper-commercial spotlight of the 'Big 3' agencies, the septet developed a gritty, authentic work ethic that would characterize their entire career trajectory and subsequent solo ventures.
The Breakthrough On January 9, 2019, PLATINUM officially stepped into the limelight with their full-length album, Mad City. Anchored by heavy hip-hop beats and infectious dance anthems, the release showcased their collective versatility. Tracks like 'Mad City' and 'On Your Way' highlighted member-driven lyricism and dynamic performance presence, earning them a dedicated underground following.
Ascension & Transition Despite holding immense promise, the rapidly shifting landscape of independent Korean entertainment brought sudden turbulence. PLATINUM's official run concluded later in 2019 as their parent company restructured. However, the end of the group served not as a full stop, but as a comma, paving the way for members to establish prominent solo careers in busking crews, digital streaming platforms, and songwriting.
Legacy & Philosophy Today, the legacy of PLATINUM lives on through the individual perseverance of its members—from Wooseo's soulful solo releases to Doha (Ra.L)'s streaming dominance and Jess's dance leadership. They remain a poignant reminder of the resilience required to survive and thrive within the fiercely competitive ecosystem of Korean pop music.
