Origins & Roots Born Jeon Hyun-joo in Jeonju, South Korea, Rozu grew up immersed in a deep appreciation for the arts. During her formative years, she attended Gugak National Middle School where she specialized in playing the Daegeum, a traditional Korean transverse flute. This rigorous classical grounding instilled in her an acute sense of pitch, discipline, and emotional resonance that would profoundly shape her musicality.
Training & Formative Trials Transitioning from traditional Korean music to contemporary idol training, she entered the grueling trainee system. Her artistic awakening was sparked by iconic vocalists like Lena Park and legendary groups like 2NE1, whose fierce individuality inspired her ambitions. She honed her stage presence by studying Sunmi’s mesmerizing expressiveness, eventually earning her spot as the second revealed member and leader of the girl group ANS.
Breakthrough & Global Ascension In September 2019, she made her official debut under the stage name Royeon with ANS, releasing the energetic single 'BOOM BOOM'. As the group's leader and main vocalist, she anchored performances with her stable pitch and charming aegyo. Although the group disbanded prematurely in August 2020, her determination remained unshakeable as she prepared for her next chapter.
Landmark Honors & Independent Era Rebranding herself as Rozu, she embarked on an independent solo career. On December 30, 2023, she released her debut digital single 'Same Old Lies', establishing her identity as a self-directed singer-songwriter. Her unique vocal timbre, combined with her artistic independence, earned quiet critical acclaim across digital streaming platforms and niche K-pop communities.
Artistic Philosophy & Legacy Rozu's artistic philosophy centers on authenticity, emotional sincerity, and botanical inspiration—frequently incorporating floral motifs into her daily life and branding. Balancing her past as an idol leader with her current independent path, she dreams of one day opening a flower shop in France, blending her passion for music with a serene, beautiful life.
