Origins & Roots Emerging from the vibrant cultural undercurrents of South Korea's capital, Seoulmoon was formed in Seoul as a dynamic female-led indie rock trio. The band brought together three exceptionally talented musicians—Kim Hyemi, Lee Luli, and Shin Hyemi—each with a distinct background in the country's alternative music scene.
Formative Years & Debut United by a shared passion for raw instrumentation and melodic hooks, the trio officially debuted in December 2016 with their digital single When I First Saw You. Their formation was a breath of fresh air in a market heavily dominated by synchronized idol pop groups, championing instead a genuine band-centric ethos.
Musical Identity Seoulmoon carved out a niche characterized by breezy guitar riffs, hypnotic basslines, and crisp percussion. Drawing inspiration from alternative rock, dream pop, and vintage indie aesthetics, their sound captured the bittersweet melancholia and fast-paced energy of urban youth in Seoul.
Collaborative Spirit & Projects Beyond their collective output, the members maintained active involvement in the broader indie community, participating in concurrent projects such as 24 Hours, Bye Bye Badman, and Champions, as well as pursuing solo ventures under monikers like Lulileela.
Legacy & Influence Though their journey as an active trio eventually concluded, Seoulmoon left an enduring mark on the K-indie landscape, celebrated for their authenticity, artistic independence, and contribution to expanding the boundaries of Korean underground rock.
When I First Saw You.
When I First Saw You.
