Origins & Roots Universe Cowards (우주겁쟁이), also known as Universe Hipsters, emerged as an extraordinary cross-genre project group forged through the immense popularity of the hit JTBC variety show 'Knowing Brothers'. Comprising Super Junior's eccentric main star Kim Heechul and BUZZ's legendary rock-ballad vocalist Min Kyunghoon, the duo's name is a clever amalgamation of Heechul's nickname 'Universe Big Star' and Kyunghoon's signature hit song title 'Coward'.
Training & Scouting The partnership was not conceived in a traditional trainee incubator, but rather under the bright lights of weekly broadcasting sets. As regular cast members of 'Knowing Brothers', Heechul and Kyunghoon developed a razor-sharp comedic banter and sibling-like rivalry that captivated millions of viewers across South Korea and international Hallyu communities.
The Breakthrough Their official musical debut took place on November 20, 2016, under SM Station with the digital single 'Sweet Dream'. Written and composed by veteran hitmakers, the sentimental rock ballad immediately resonated with the public, defying conventional idol release tropes and sweeping digital charts.
